Itinerary

Day 01: Cusco - Calca - Lares - Wacahuasi
Transfer from hotel at 05:00am. To begin our adventure across the Sacred Valley of the Incas, we will start with the medicinal thermal baths of Lares. On the way, we will be able to appreciate the majestic Sacred Valley with its fertile land, we will arrive at the small town of Calca (2940m) before ascending via the small villages of Totora and Maucaupata. Finally, after a journey of 4 hours, we will arrive at Lares (3,200m) where we will visit the refreshing thermal baths. After lunch and having met our porters, we will begin the trek arriving at our first night’s camp, Wacawasi (3600 m / 11,811 ft), in 4 hours.

Day 02: Wacahuasi - Ipsaycocha - Patacancha
After breakfast, we will start the trek to our second campsite. This day has an early start as we will be climbing up via the Ipsay Pass. Along the way, we can appreciate several rural communities and their traditions and homemade textiles. We will arrive at the Ipsaycocha lagoon for lunch and after a well-deserved siesta, we will continue to the town of Patacancha, where we will spend our second night.

Day 03: Patacancha - Willoq - Ollantaytambo
After breakfast, we will continue our trek towards the small traditional village of Willoq. We will pass some small settlements along the walk as well as the archaeological ruins of Qochapata and Pumamarca and their famous Incan terraces. At approximately 14:00, we will arrive at the village of Ollantaytambo, situated at the bank of the river Vilcanota, a fertile valley, this ancient Incan is considered one of the most important living museums in the world. After lunch we will have free time until 19:30 when we will catch the train to Aguas Calientes. Here, we will spend the night in a hostal with private bathroom and hot water.

Day 04: Machupicchu
We will leave very early, walking towards the Incan site of Machu Picchu to be able to watch the sunset and then have a guided tour of the whole site, approximately 2.5 hours. Then we will have free time to explore the sacred site at our own pace until 15:00. In the afternoon, we will catch the train to the town of Ollantaytambo, where the bus will be waiting to take us back to Cusco.
