Travel Program

Itinerary

Day 01: Huaraz 3100 m / 10,170 ft – Base Camp / Refugee 4676 m / 15,341 ft.
We start in Huaraz (city of mountaineers), driving in the direction of Yungay, which was completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1970. We drive past various small villages on our way and after a few hours, we see two beautiful lakes – lake Chinancocha (laguna hembra, female lake) and lake Oroconcocha (laguna macho, male lake). Together they are also known as llanganuco lakes. We continue driving up to Yuraccorral, where our trekking starts.
Yuraccorral is a truly wondrous place to start. We take a small track that leads us to base camp (refugee), where we spend the night. This first day walk is full of beautiful views with mountains, such as Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Yanapaccha, Chacraraju, Pisco and Los Huandoys. 2-3 hours aprox.

Day 02: Base Camp – Lake 69 – Huaraz
We start very early in the morning, having our breakfast at 6:30 am and starting to walk up to Lake 69 at 7 am. We first pass a moraine and then follow the road up to a mountain pass at 5900 m / 19,356 ft. The views are beautiful and we can observe majestic Nevado Chacraraju and other snow peaked mountains. After a short rest, we continue all the way up to Lake 69.
At Lake 69, we take our time to enjoy the stunning views and nature. Lake 69 has become one of the most visited and popular places in Cordillera Blanca mountain rage, due to its beautiful turquoise color and impressive surroundings.
We then descend, taking the road that is usually used to go up by many touristic agencies. There is a transport waiting for us in Yuraccorral. Return to Huaraz
